Oracy Finals were very successfurl with a winner from each grade to be recognized at our end of year Presentation assembly. All finalists received a certificate on the day.

  1. Coffee mornings Next Term there will be two parent in-services presented – Wk 2 Natasha Gonzaga. Wk7 David Burke.
  2. Preschool Visits: Literacy session KU East Corrimal, Pioneer Rd Long Day Care and Gumnut Village.
  3. Naplan results due to arrive this week Yr 3 and Yr 5 students.
  4. School Evaluation to be held at Corrimal Leagues Club on Tuesday 10th Nov – parents are invited to attend this meeting and take part in the planning process.
  5. Public Works – Cabling has started to Oosh room, - New Bell system to be in installed, A shower is to be installed in the hall toilet block.
  6. BER: -We are in round 3 of the grant. New computer room. Extension of school hall. Refurbishment of Block B. No forecast when this work will start.
  7. Book Packs 2010 - Kinder pack approx $15. Year 1/2 pack approx $12. Year 3-6 pack approx $12.
  8. Voluntary school contributions – This fee is under consideration for next year. $25 per child or $50 per family. This came under much discussion.

  • Day of Fete truck could find it difficult to get into school with rides if we have a fence.

  • Pre schools – I have met with two Pre schools – Gumnut Village and Pioneer Long Day Care. KU will be visiting in Week 10.
  • Coffee mornings – next parent in-service will focus on The School Curriculum, led by Mr Chapman – This will take place in Week8.
  • The Music Bus has started and has made a pleasing start. Minimal impact on school organization. Some minor “bugs” but overall a promising beginning.
  • The School Fence – I have left a message again at Sydney level and have promised a reply tomorrow!
  • 2008 Annual School Report – available for community members. This document outlines 2008 results and targets for 2009.
  • School Tracking Sheet – Staff will be asked to record and monitor individual students progress in Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Reports – Supervisors (Natasha, Brad, Kim P) To David Week 9, Home Week 10, Parent Interviews Week 11.
  • School Audit this Thursday.
  • School Policies – Dave Burke has started putting school policies onto our website. Further policies are in the process of being added.
  • Term 3 Book Week bring favorite book. Local sporting personalities to visit with their books.

  • Welcome to everybody.
  • Student Numbers 298. 12 classes. 8 straight and 4 composite classes. 55 kindy children.
  • Best Start – every kindy child starting at our school this year will be assessed in Literacy and Numeracy. This provides teachers with an accurate starting point.
  • School Targets.
  • Explicit Literacy session 9.00 – 11.00.
  • Explicit Numeracy session 11.20 – 1.05.
  • COGs subjects 2.00 – 3.00.
  • Meet the Teacher information evening on Thursday.
  • Tears and Tissues – tomorrow @ 9.00am.
  • Badge Induction Assembly Friday @ 11.30.
  • School Photos pushed back to Tuesday Week 10 – this allows classes to settle and spaces out demands for money.
  • Text Book $30. Per child. This covers Literacy and Numeracy.
  • Focus programs which will be utilized across the school include Math’s Milestones, Writing Rescue and Key into Comprehension.
  • Meeting with David Campbell and Verity Firth 20th Feb re security fence.
  • Stage 3 Camp last week of Term 3.

  • Natasha Gonzaga spoke regarding Yr 6 Fundraising Plan for 2009.
  • Concern that 2008 Yr 6 disco was too expensive. Could the cost of this years disco be cheaper? More affordable for families with more than 1 child.
  • Volunteers Grant has come and the money will be used to purchase a Pie Oven, Kitchen Utensils for school canteen and a shade cover with the school name on it ( as voted at October 2008 meeting).
  • P & C to match $1 for $1 the money raised to a maximum of $500 during the school mufti day to raise funds for the Victorian Bush Fire Appeal.
  • Material used for the school sports shirts in unavailable at the moment. Due to a large number of children waiting for shirts it was decided to go ahead and order shirts made from a different material until it is available.
  • Interactive Whiteboards are only suitable for 3 class rooms in school.
  • Sport for life athletic training at school.
  • Due to Athletics carnival being a non event the last 2 years it was suggested that if it happens again this year that it be moved to Bulli High School. To be referred to Mr Privett.
  • Music Lessons at school – Nicole Petre to research and put together a survey to sent out to parents regarding interest.

First Parents and Citizens Meeting for 2009
Tuesday 10th of February in the school staff room at 7.00pm


Hi All and welcome to the East Corrimal Parents and Citizens Blog for 2009 our first meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th of February in the school staff room at 7.00pm.

A big welcome to all Parents of children attending East Corrimal School to attend this meeting, and we especially extend a warm invitation if you have a new student enrolled at our school to come along and be actively involved with the issues that effect your child and their schooling.

It is a great opportunity to meet other parents from the school and you will find that we are a friendly bunch who certainly enjoy seeing new members attending our Parents and Citizens Meetings.

To all our regular attendees look forward to seeing you all again, and remember keen to see some active participation in our blog ie feel free to add some comments :) .
