-Congratulations to the new 2010 P & C Office Bearers and a special thank you to outgoing 2009 committee for your whole-hearted support of our school.
-BER- still to commence – however we have selected colours for our new BDR
-School Self – Evaluation – Intensive Teacher Professional Development this semester with the three major domains of Quality Teaching being a focus. Curriculum Differentiation has also been an area of focus.
-Vertical streaming – Some students have been moved to higher or lower grouped classes according to their Needs. We are able to accommodate this through having whole school Literacy and Numeracy sessions.
-Learning Support class – is running very smoothly with 5 students now part of the class. Range of abilities IQ of 150 – IM. A second class a strong possibility.
-Class Structures – 2010 – 11 classes have been formed, numbers still quite volatile, we look highly likely to form a 12th class sometime in Term 2.
-New Assistant Principal – Mr David Bourke – wide range of experiences including Relieving AP – Jamberoo PS, Quality Teaching and Technology.
-School Photos- Tuesday 23rd March
-Selective High School Test – Thursday – 18th March
-Easter Hat Parade – 1st April – Last Day of Term
-Operation Art – students will shortly be asked for an Art sample
-Scripture – 3 lessons for term 1. Term 2 will be re-evaluated

School Self – Evaluation – Management Plan just about completed. Needs fine tuning with budgets early 2010.

Parents & Citizens First Meeting for 2010
A big welcome to all parents of children to attend our first meeting for the year on Tuesday the 9th of Feb at 7.00pm in school staff room.
This is a great opportunity to meet other parents from the school and get a real hands on with the issues that effect your child and their schooling, i especially extend a warm invitation if you have a new student enrolled at our school to come along.
You will find that we are a friendly bunch who just like you want the best for our kids and their time at school.
To all our regular attendees look forward to seeing you all again.
We will be accepting nominations for all committee roles at this meeting with our Annual General Meeting scheduled for Tuesday 9th March.
So come and get involved with the school community.

Oracy Finals were very successfurl with a winner from each grade to be recognized at our end of year Presentation assembly. All finalists received a certificate on the day.
- Coffee mornings Next Term there will be two parent in-services presented – Wk 2 Natasha Gonzaga. Wk7 David Burke.
- Preschool Visits: Literacy session KU East Corrimal, Pioneer Rd Long Day Care and Gumnut Village.
- Naplan results due to arrive this week Yr 3 and Yr 5 students.
- School Evaluation to be held at Corrimal Leagues Club on Tuesday 10th Nov – parents are invited to attend this meeting and take part in the planning process.
- Public Works – Cabling has started to Oosh room, - New Bell system to be in installed, A shower is to be installed in the hall toilet block.
- BER: -We are in round 3 of the grant. New computer room. Extension of school hall. Refurbishment of Block B. No forecast when this work will start.
- Book Packs 2010 - Kinder pack approx $15. Year 1/2 pack approx $12. Year 3-6 pack approx $12.
- Voluntary school contributions – This fee is under consideration for next year. $25 per child or $50 per family. This came under much discussion.

- Pre schools – I have met with two Pre schools – Gumnut Village and Pioneer Long Day Care. KU will be visiting in Week 10.
- Coffee mornings – next parent in-service will focus on The School Curriculum, led by Mr Chapman – This will take place in Week8.
- The Music Bus has started and has made a pleasing start. Minimal impact on school organization. Some minor “bugs” but overall a promising beginning.
- The School Fence – I have left a message again at Sydney level and have promised a reply tomorrow!
- 2008 Annual School Report – available for community members. This document outlines 2008 results and targets for 2009.
- School Tracking Sheet – Staff will be asked to record and monitor individual students progress in Literacy and Numeracy.
- Reports – Supervisors (Natasha, Brad, Kim P) To David Week 9, Home Week 10, Parent Interviews Week 11.
- School Audit this Thursday.
- School Policies – Dave Burke has started putting school policies onto our website. Further policies are in the process of being added.
